Social Media vs Traditional Media

The differences between traditional media and social media are many of them. In traditional media there is alot more content and unnecessary material written on the page. Also it is only available through newspapers, magazines, books etc. Social media is alot more easy to access and it gets to the point faster. It doesnt have paragraphs and paragraphs of material that doesnt matter to the reader.

Writing on the web is different from writing traditional news because it is alot less words and gets straight to the point that the reader is interested in. The Washington Post newspaper is different from the online version because there is more graphics and less words.

Blogging and texting have made people not want to read the newspapers anymore they can simply read about it in a tweet or recieve it in a text message. Like during the storm Hannah people wernt getting the information from the news but getting it from texts and Twitter.

Media is changing in the "media distribution" because there is starting to network accross and more and more people are starting to join. "Working hard to go where the audience is", says Executive Director Bill Buzenberg, the media needs to stop expecting for readers to visit the web sites but to go and get the people to read what will interest them.

"We know theres way too much out there for people to go from site to site" says Chad Lorenz editior of online magazin Slate. There are so many options for people out there that the media needs to get the people to come to them and read what they have. Many people dont like to read multi paragraphs so the shorter the better that gets to the point.
